The Solution for Fast and Compact Metal Buildings
COLD FORMED STEEL BUILDINGS
North of Orion works on both residential and commercial cold formed buildings projects. At certain sizes, typically under a 50' width and 25' eave height, the Cold Formed Metal Building is often the fastest, most afforadable choice in the metal building market. They are a powerhouse solution that solves mutliple challenges in one product:
Stamped Drawings and Calculations as fast as 24 hours.
Option to include Foundation Design as slab or pier.
Customization to include mezzanines, second floors, wrap around porches, specialty walls and more.
Delivery in 2 weeks is typical.
Wide range of manufacturer colors and panel types; with the option to substitute other brand panels.
For most commercial metal building projects, North of Orion perfers to work with a skilled General Contractor in order to deliver a project as quickly as possible. On some simple, small commercial projects, we will work direct if the scope of work makes sense.
On residential projects, we can assist with everything from a supply only metal building, to a complete turn-key project including permits, engineering and all finishes. Do you have certain skills of your own? In many cases, we are happy to even leave a few scope items within the property owner's capable hands.
Whether it is commercial or residential, we can help from as early in the process as a basic idea in your mind, to detailed drawings.
This 40' wide x 90' long x 19' tall eave height equipment storage building was designed with (3) 12'x16' overhead doors and (3) personnel doors. The galvanized steel option was selected for it's longevity and no need for paint or other protective finishes. A layer of thermal break insulation was included at the roof, along with the selection of a Cool Roof Compliant panel color.
This home was designed to be a minimalist, zero maintenance, ultra-low impact residence in our beautiful Sonoran Desert. The house was customized to include Insulated Metal Panel roof and walls. The owners have a strong appreciation of the craftsmanship of the trades, and requested a design that left the structure, electrical and plumbing exposed. This was a complete turn key package, from permitting through C of O.

COLD FORMED STEEL BUILDINGS
Some projects in process. Note that cold formed structures have all straight columns and rafters, making it easier to frame and build interior walls. Traditional pre-engineered metal buildings default to tapered columns and rafters.
Typical "PBR" style single skin wall panels. Often used with a nominal R-19 wall insulation.
Insulated metal wall panels. Understanding sealant placement is critical for maintaining integrated vapor barriers.
Field-bent roof fly bracing.
Red-primed cold formed framing with temporary bracing.
